Why was the Rockies victory bittersweet? Let me tell it in fairy tale form:
Once upon a time there was a team forged in the mountains of Colorado. We knew there was something magic about them. Their group included a dragonslayer, a scribe acting as a knight, an elder finally realizing his power, and they faced an Evil Mr. Byrnes (who says you can't have Simpson references in a fairy tale?)
But lurking in the swamps of Pearland Texas there lurked an evil, all controlling being known as Comcast. During the heart of the contest between the Stone Men of Colorado and the Evil Serpents of Arizona, evil Comcast chose to be all "corporation-y" and decided right before the 8th inning to switch the channel lineup.
Our fairy tale became a mystery when Brandon witnessed "The Stepford Wives" rather than the rest of the magical evening. When he changed to the new channel (which wasn't supposed to switch for two weeks) he switched to the new channel and saw nothing but static. In a last ditch effort, he ran to his computer to watch a gamecast, but the Evil Comcast struck once more by controlling the internet. Apparently because they all come in the same package, they all get screwed up at the same time.
So Brandon called his folks and heard the end of the game over their phone. I'll take the win, I love the streak, but when you stay up until 1 am, you really hope to catch it. Oh well, at least when the Rockies take on the Indians or Red Sox in the WORLD SERIES!!!!!!, the Network Gods will likely eliminate the evils of corporation-y Comcast. It's not Comcastic, it's Com-Stupid.
The End

PS Amy says it has to say happily ever after, but I'm hoping to save that line for a couple of weeks...
