In an effort to cut costs (and because our Christmas card list was over 200 families!), we have decided to send out electronic cards this year.
For those of you who have not received our card before, my husband writes our annual letter. If you enjoy it (which I think you will!) and would like to receive more frequent Schrenk Family updates, email leave me a comment and request to join his mass email list. (We also try to post his emails here).
We hope you have a very happy holiday season!
Here is the letter:
Merry “Josh McDaniel’s word” Xmas!
For the first time in years, possibly ever, there is nothing new and exciting to report in the Schrenk household. No new kids, no hurricanes, no new dogs, no military deployments, no new jobs, no new cars, no out of state moves – about the only change we had this year were the brakes in Amy’s minivan. Sorry we don’t have anything interesting to report this year but in the midst of floating children hoaxes, the earlier than expected perishing of celebrity hotties and weirdoes, cheating Tigers, Mike Shanahan leaving and some punk kid leading the Broncos to 8-4 (who saw that coming??), it’s hard to compete. But we’ll try.
We started the year with a trip to the second happiest place on Earth. The first is of course standing between Ed McCaffrey and Troy Tulowitzki, but after Brandon’s second restraining order we had to settle for Disneyworld. Brandon had to be dragged kicking and screaming, mostly complaining that we were wasting money faster and on stupider endeavors than our current administration, but after seeing the looks on the little girls’ faces, when the four day tour was over he had to be dragged kicking and screaming back to Texas…much like when he moved there.
Speaking of those smiling little girls, can you believe that Allison is 3? She is tall, skinny, and absolutely boy crazy – every father’s dream come true. She has started dance classes and daddy is trying to get her involved in calculus for pre-schoolers next year but is worried that the kids next door in the “how to beat up a nerd” for pre-schoolers class may cause a problem.
And then there’s little Jordan, and by little we of course mean not as tall as dad…yet. That kid is a bundle of energy and a barrel of laughs. Her favorite toy is whatever Allison is playing with and her favorite food is dog food. With her constant movement, curly mess of hair, and her ever present burp cloth, she slightly resembles a combination of Einstein and Linus. She loves to laugh and make sure everyone else around her is laughing too. Or at least paying attention to her.
Over Thanksgiving, through a family connection, the girls got a behind the scenes look at Sea World and got to get up close and personal with some of the wildlife. Allison got to pet a penguin; Jordan got to smack a penguin on the back.
A few weeks prior to that we were offered a rare opportunity to see none other than the purple dinosaur himself! When the girls heard he was going to be in town, they weren’t sold on the deal, but Brandon said, “There is no Josh McDanielsing word way we’re missing this”. If you’ve never been to a Barney concert before, trust us, he’s bigger than the Beatles. We also have front row tickets to “Sesame Street Live” next year, so we’re just one Disney on Ice short of the “Yup-I’m-a-parent-now” trifecta.
Amy joined Jazzercise and has lost 35 pounds since the last time you wasted an hour reading a Schrenk Christmas letter. She spent a majority of the year growing her hair and then a few seconds cutting it off and donating it to make a wig for cancer patients – she won’t let Brandon do the same because she doesn’t think there is a market for the white man afro. She is still owner and operator of Corporation to Ensure Brandon Doesn’t Screw Up Jordan and Allison, LLC ™ and loving it.
Brandon certified as a Professional Engineer and started a Master’s Program for Chemical Engineering and in those brief moments when he’s not daydreaming about when he gets to see Hunter and his girls, he still does engineering for Air Liquide.
We hope you feel as blessed to read these words as we feel to write them. And we hope that your Christmas letters include gift certificates and cash.
Happy and Safe Holidays
Amy, Brandon, Allison, Jordan, Hunter, Chloe, and Amy’s Cat Schrenk.
