Super Secret Colorado Trip

Southwest did a sale a while back and we got RIDICULOUSLY cheap tickets to Denver. We decided to go my birthday weekend. That way, we could go out to eat in Denver (with a free babysitter), go to a museum (with a free babysitter) and do Christmas with Michael and Bri. We'd like to apologize to all our Colorado friends. We were only there from Friday late until early Monday, so we didn't really have time to do much more than visit family. We will try to see everyone on our next trip!!


We got to the airport early even though our flight was delayed. The girls were able to run around and run off some energy. The only downside - our flight that was supposed to get in at 7, got in at 8. Now for those of you who are good at math, that means 9 in the time zone that the girls are used to. Jordan (who was diagnosed with an ear infection just 2 days prior to flying) SCREAMED for the last almost hour of the flight. Not just screaming though. She screamed, "Night night!" over and over and over. Mostly, we got sympathetic looks from the passengers near us on this VERY full flight. But of course, the one lady I could hear (the one in front of me and to the right) kept going on and on about how tired she was and how much of a headache she had because of "you know." If I hadn't been holding Jordan's legs so she couldn't kick the seat, I would have smacked the lady. As soon as we got Jordan into the car - out. She just couldn't sleep on the plane. She was overtired and her ear probably hurt. Plus even though we fly a lot, it's not a completely familiar thing for her. We FINALLY got to Grandma and Grandpa's. Thank goodness for Good Times Guacamole Bacon Burger and Tastefully Simple's Mango Margaritas. I slept VERY well. :)


The next morning was much better. The girls were happy (and so was Grandpa!).
Then, they found the dog cage. Now remember, Grandma and Grandpa have a Great Dane/Lab mix who is about Jordan's age. He's HUGE.

Then, they discovered the snow.

Allison LOVED it. It was a very dry snow and the sun was out so it was perfect. She never once got upset that she was cold or wet.

She loved picking up snowballs and running them over to Grandpa's van. "I'm putting snow on your car!" and then CRACKING up. (Not quite sure what goes through her head sometimes).

She even ate some snow (not off the van though).

Jordan's favorite part was the sled/tobaggan thing. (We might have a future boarder).

When Jordan was done, she had to say goodbye to the animals on the porch.

Now, I mentioned something about a museum. You see, there was a Genghis Khan exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. And since my mom got us a Children's Museum membership and they have reciprocating priveliges, we decided to go check it out. This was the only picture we took - of the garage. We had a great time. And since we were in Denver (with the kids back home with a sitter) we went out to eat. For Mongolian Barbeque. Cause we're awesome like that. ;) After dinner, we headed to the restaurant that Bonnie and Russ had their reception at. I finally had a cucumber mojito. And when the bartender found out we were their friends, we had grapefruit mojitos. FANtastic.

On Sunday, Michael and Bri came up with Duncan. Here are he and Jordan sizing each other up.

This was after playing with Ebanezer (the lab/dane mix) for a while.

One tired puppy!Jordan soon discovered she could do ANYTHING with Uncle Michael.

And discovered that if she said, "Come on Michael" that he would follow her in the cage.

Which was fine until Ebenezer wanted in.

When Allison finally woke up, we did our Christmas. Allison is laughing at Michael here. That's all she did - "Ha ha Michael, you're so funny! Ha ha Michael, you crack me up!" Talk about stroking an ego!!

The girls had a great time and LOVED all their gifts. The flight back was MUCH better!! (Naptime = good flights, I guess).

This is one toy that Michael and Bri gave them that we could NOT play with on Sunday. (We had to wait until we got home). Both girls really enjoy it (although it makes Allison's hair stand up on end!)
