Jordan and I spent last week on Tybee Island, GA and in Savannah for my best friend Heather's wedding.
For those of you who don't know Heather, you should. She and I met the summer before our Freshman year at Mines. We've been through thick and thin together but have always found our way back to being closer than we ever were before.
She drove from Atlanta to Mississippi to drive me to St. Louis for my family baby shower. Then drove me back and helped me put together strollers and other random baby gear. She was with me when Brandon called and said he wouldn't make it home in time to see Allison's birth. She took me shopping (and bought me fried pickles for dinner).
I think she was the first phone call I made when we found out plans had changed and he was going to make it home.
She was very obviously our first choice when choosing Allison's godmother. I only hope that Allison's heart is half as big as Heather's is.
(There. That is what I TRIED to say into the microphone at her wedding. What came out instead was a bunch of blubbering, sobbing nonsense). Heater, I love you. :)
Anyway, back to the trip. We were at a condo ON THE BEACH on Tybee. GORGEOUS does not even begin to describe it! The weather was not as cool as I was planning, so we took Jordan to the beach. In her clothes. Cause I didn't pack a swimsuit. Cause I'm a great mom.
See the building on the left? That's our building. See the condo on the 2nd floor? Yep. That was our balcony.
Notice a trend in Jordan's pictures? She RAN the entire time. In the water, out of the water, up and down the beach.
Mine and Jordan's footprints
We spent the first part of the week helping Heather with wedding stuff. Thursday came and we had a bridal shower. (The groom and one of the groomsmen watched Jordan for me. She had them wrapped around her finger!)
Then came the Bachelorette Party. At a piano bar. Cause that's how we roll!
Brandon got in late that night with Allison and thankfully, everyone slept in a bit on Friday. Then came the sightseeing.
We ate at the Pirate's House for lunch. The girls and I LOVED our food. Brandon was ho-hum (he should quit ordering burgers anywhere but Colorado or Texas). The kids' menu was a hat. With an earring and a mustache. It was awesome.
"Arrrrr!"
That night was the rehearsal dinner. Heather gave the girls these hooded blankets (a monkey and a moose) for their gifts. They were AWESOME.
We went out for a while afterwards and watched the baseball game. We headed back early with the girls and fell asleep watching it in our room.
The next morning, Allison came with the bridesmaids to get our hair done. She did SO good!
Then we headed back to the hotel and mom took the girls for ice cream and got them ready while we headed to the church to get Heather ready. The girls met us there.
BEAUTIFUL flower girls!! (Thanks, Nikki for the pictures!)
The church was GORGEOUS.
Jordan smiled the whole time
We headed across the street to a Greek church for pictures. Brandon caught Allison playing in the leaves while waiting for her turn.
Then it was back to the hotel for the reception.
The girls hit a brick wall right during the father of the bride's speech. Brandon took them back to the room and changed them into their pj's. They were promised cake if they could behave.
This is what came back. That's right - a moose.
Colorado peeps!
This is what Jordan did the rest of the night. She grabbed people, screamed, "My friends are on the floor!" and drug them to the dance floor. Then she ran around in circles.
This is what was going on before the brick wall - playing on Aunt Bri's iPhone.
Wall is approaching......
This is about 5 seconds after we put them in bed. They were worn out! And poor Jordan had a "hangover" the next day from being up so late dancing! She was throwing MAJOR fits as we were getting into the car (which is rare). The bride and groom got to see it and were cracking up that it was the first time all week they saw her like that.
Thank you, Heather and Adam for a GREAT week and a wonderful wedding. We're so incredibly happy for you two and wish you nothing but the best!!
