Happy Birthday Will and Nora!

Allison met a girl named Nora her first year at Mother's Day Out. They became BFFs almost immediately. Sadly, Nora had to stop coming to MDO and start going to daycare. BUT we have stayed friends with her and her family. Allison is also friends with Nora's older brother Will. Will and Nora's birthdays are close together, so for the past couple of years (and maybe longer, but that's just how long we've been invited!) the party has been a HUGE party for both kids.

This year, the party was at the YMCA. We started with ALL the kids outside. Neither of our girls had naps that day, and there were a lot of kids they didn't know, so here's how the party started for us:

But then, they had the "younger" kids (Nora and her friends) make a birthday train and head into the building for play, games, and a craft.
Happy Birthday, Nora!!
Here is Allison showing off her craft. We were so proud of her. One of the helpers turned it over and asked Allison how to spell her name. Without prompting or help from us, she very S-L-O-W-L-Y spelled her name! Yay!!
The poster behind me is one of the games we got to play. It was "Pin the Crown on the Princess". It's a poster of Snow White and the 7 Dwarves. They also had laminated colored coloring book pictures of Princesses and did a kind of musical chairs. The pictures were all on the floor, spaced out in a circle. The kids had to walk around from picture to picture while the music played. When the music played, the leaders would say something like, "Okay, whose picture has someone with RED hair?" And if their picture did, the kids got some candy. They played enough rounds and asked enough questions that all the kids got something. Jordan was funny at first. She just stood on her picture and wouldn't move. They said, "Go around the circle!" so she turned around in circles on the picture. Guess you have to phrase things differently to 2 year olds!
Happy Birthday, Will!!
After cake, the big kids had the craft/play area and the littler ones went into the aerobics room to play some more games and play with balls and the parachute.
The first game was where you tie a balloon around your ankle and try to step on other people's balloons while protecting yours. Nora cracked me up. She looked at the helper and said, "But then they'll pop!" She was NOT a fan. Allison, however, LOVED this game.
But EVERYONE loves the parachute!!
Happy Birthday, Sweet Girl!! We were so happy we could be there to celebrate with you!!!
