2010 Schrenk Christmas Letter

Merry New Year and Happy Christmas!!

Much like Brett Favre and Josh McDaniels, you’re probably asking yourself, “Is the Schrenk Christmas letter still around?” Unlike Favre and McDaniels…YES WE ARE!*
*Not be confused with “Yes We Can” which is related to a different sort of comedy

It’s getting harder and harder to write these letters because we’re turning into that home-owning, 2.4 kids (yeah, they’re both still huge), 2 dogs, 1 worthless cat, and a joke of a football team family. But we’re still having fun and we manage to have some laughs. Oh yeah and we got an $800 TV for $10 from a raffle at the taste of the town – Brandon has never seen the Broncos lose so many football games so clearly.

Allison is our little Narcissus who never misses an opportunity to check herself out in a mirror, regardless of how many glass cabinet doors are there to slap her in the face on the way to a better look. Sometimes repeatedly.

Her favorite past time is dressing up like a princess – including a dress, lots of jewelry, shoes (or “glass slippers”), a crown, gloves, wings, a wand, a backpack (filled with stuffed animals), a dufflebag (filled with stuffed animals), a suitcase with wheels (filled with stuffed animals) and of course, a Monkey prince. Yes, Monkey is a proper noun in this house and as such will be capitalized.

Allison had her first sleepover this year when her friend Nora came over for the night. At one point we can hear Allison through the monitor asking Nora, “So what food does Will (Nora’s 6 year old brother) like? What is his favorite color?” and so on. Not to brag, but she just turned 4 this year and she already flirts at a third grade level.

Jordan turned Tulo (for the non-Rockies fans who weren’t paying attention two years ago, Tulowitzki wears number two). And not to brag, but she torments her big sister at a fifth grade boy level – which pretty much consists of stealing Monkey, and if that doesn’t make Allison cry, singing “I’ve got Monkey,” and then Allison cries.

People ask where she got her crazy curls but we’re pretty sure here hair is straight and her head is where awesomeness is leaking out. She potty trained herself, passed her four year checkup (she was showing off at Allison’s office visit), and she mostly makes her own breakfast. By mostly we mean we know exactly how far and how quickly a gallon of milk can spread across a kitchen floor.

Unlike her sister, when she plays dress-up she insists on being “the Beast” or “Shrek.” We’re wondering if we now know what it must have been like for Barb (Amy’s mom) all those years (age 2-27) when Michael (Amy’s brother) liked to dress up like a princess.

Brandon and Amy took a little time away for a Caribbean cruise but let’s talk about important stuff – they got to sit two rows behind the Rockies dugout when they were in town to play the Astros. They were close enough that Brandon could smell Tulowitzki’s cologne and…well, the lawyers have advised us not to divulge the details of the incident, but it is likely that the restraining order will require that he sit no closer than row 16 from now on.

Amy applied for a spot on the Disney Mom’s Panel and has been looking into jobs as a travel agent specifically for Disney trips and has concluded that we need to go at least once a year from now on - for “tax purposes,” of course. Apparently this Disney thing is highly contagious as it has spread to both girls and even Brandon isn’t immune as he likely now knows more about the Disney Princesses than most 13 year old girls.

Brandon is still working as an engineer who takes air and makes air and every so often will send a mass email.

We wish you all the happiest of holidays and we hope you don’t get stuck in a European airport when the next volcano erupts.

Brandon, Amy, Allison, Jordan, Hunter, Chloe, and Amy’s cat Schrenk
