18 Month Check Up

18 months! Can Allison really be that old?!? We went to the pediatrician today and here are Allison's stats:

Weight: 32 lb, 4 oz
Height: 35 in
Head Circumference: 19.094 inches

As usual, she's well off the charts. Her height is still tracking UP but her weight line and head circumference line actually dipped down a little. I think her weight is stabilizing (my back is cheering, can you hear it?). The funny thing about her height...most studies say that if you double your height at 24 months, that's your adult height. That means if Allison doesn't grow another inch in 6 months (highly unlikely) she'll be about 5'10". Oh my goodness. Looks like I'm going to be the midget in our family!

We were a little concerned about some spots she had on her chest/stomach but the doc said it's a viral thing that she's not worried about. They can take a couple months to go away though. We also asked about her eyes turning in and she said everything looks normal. It's probably just some muscular immaturity that surfaces when Allison is tired. Her feet, which we thought turning in a bit are okay. She just has fairly flat feet and that's what's making the rolling foot thing look worse than it is. The doc said that she thinks she's okay on the verbal, but when we go to the therapist for her evaluation, we can have them check that too. That's right, we have to take Allison to an Occupational Therapist. :( She's still not walking but she's very close. Our doc said that the OT will be able to help us and give us some good exercises to do with Allison that will encourage her to get over that last hurdle. We really think some of it is Allison being extra cautious. You can watch her sometimes make a conscious decision to get down on her knees and crawl instead of taking our outstretched hand. I think her tumble down the slide has just made her a worry wart like daddy!! Hopefully the OT will help.

Other than that, Allison is healthy and developing great. We'll keep everyone posted on our OT appointment. But for now, it's nap time!
