Easter Festivities, Sick Kids and More!

Here are the pictures from the Egg Hunt we went to the day before Allison got sick. We went with her friend Nora from school. ALL Allison will talk about when she gets home is Nora. The kids had a good time but I must say, I was SEVERELY disappointed. This event was sponsored by our City's Park and Rec department. It was set up well, in theory. They had a separate egg hunt for each age group. Well, in the 3-4 (which we did), and in the 0-2, the PARENTS were HORRIBLE!!! They went running out there scooping up as many as they could! For the parents who LET THEIR KIDS DO IT (like us and Nora's dad), our kids got 2 eggs (Allison got 2, Nora got 1 and Nora's brother got 3). We saw kids walking around with a BUCKET FULL OF EGGS. Yeah, right. Your 3 year old really picked up 30 eggs! GRRRRRR!!!


Okay, I'm off my soapbox. Despite that, we still had a good time. The kids got to play and got to visit the Easter Bunny. Here we go!

We got to play on the big playground since the little one was being worked on. Nora is a champ. She climbs up EVERYTHING

Here's Brandon testing out the backpack we borrowed. We're going to do a 5K in May to benefit Ovarian Cancer research (my Jazzercise instructor's 27 year old daughter was recently diagnosed). There is a team of people from Jazzercise doing it. Allison will be at my mom's that weekend but they don't allow strollers so we had to figure out what to do with Jordan. One of the moms in my group let us borrow this AWESOME backpack. If anyone wants to sponsor our team, let me know and I'll send the email link.

Allison was SICK SICK SICK (as posted earlier). She threw up in her bed Saturday night. She was acting better on Sunday so we gave her breakfast and then left to go grocery shopping. Bad idea. She threw up in her car seat. Then she watched movies all day (Lady and the Tramp, Monsters, Inc). Then Monday, she said she felt better so she ate breakfast. When we pulled into the Babies R Us parking lot, puke again. So we came home and watched movies again (Lady and the Tramp, Mary Poppins, Cinderella and I think Monsters, Inc again). She was kind of hyper on Sunday but on Monday, she zonked out. I think she saw 10 minutes of each movie before she fell asleep. She stayed on the couch all day. She managed to keep down some toast, a popsicle, some water and some Jell-O. She woke up Tuesday HYPER HYPER HYPER. We knew she was better.

BUT then Jordan started running a fever. She had yucky diapers but she had been on an antibiotic for an ear infection so we weren't sure if that's all it was. Wednesday, her fever went from 102 to 104. In 4 hours. So I called her pediatrician and she said to bring her in. She checked her eyes and throat and everything looked okay. She really didn't have any other symptoms so the doctor was a little worried. She said that high fevers with no other symptoms are often urinary tract or bladder infections. So we had to catheterize Jordan to get a urine sample. I think that holding Jordan down so they could do that was the HARDEST thing I've had to do as a mother. Jordan was SCREAMING and that upset Allison. So I was trying to console both girls. Luckily, it came back okay. That night, her eye started oozing. I emailed her doctor and she emailed me back and said that she was pretty sure that it was a virus. She called us the next day to check on Jordan. Her fever had gone down and was staying at 101 or so. Friday, it was gone completely. So we're pretty sure she's okay.

I was doing laundry (since there was throw up on EVERYTHING Allison owned) and I turned around and this is what Jordan was doing - pulling herself up without any help!

This was Friday at the Easter Egg Hunt for our mom's group.

This one was MUCH more fair. Each kid brought 12 eggs and got to find 12 eggs. All of the moms were very good about making sure that no one took more than 12.

They also have a tradition to have the non-walkers in a baby pool. Last year, there were a lot of non-walkers. This year, it was just Jordan and Cole (who technically is a walker. He just turned 1). Next year, there will be a bunch of babies again. It's really cute when the pool is full of eggs and babies!
